The Toronto chapter of the Interaction Design Association (IxDA) is hosting an Introduction to Accessibility, Tuesday, July 2 from 7:00p to 9:00p at Mozilla Toronto.
This is a topic I’m quite fond of, with accessibility considerations crossing over into all areas of product planning, including content, design, and technical requirements.
For this event Michelangelo Iaffaldano and Bill Gregory will be covering the following:
- what an accessible product is;
- principles of accessibility;
- examples of inaccessible UIs from well-known products, and;
- how to design an accessible product.
Apart from our work with the World Wide Web Foundation, we could be doing a much better job of educating our clients on the value of accessibility beyond the minimum standards we employ in our work. And this event sounds like a great opportunity for designers, engineers, product managers, and marketers to get up to speed with the essentials.
